NOT My Day

I just came back from the DSA!

It is official… today is not my day!! Let me retell the saga so far and you will know why…

  • 2:30am - I Finish editing yesterday’s V-Log (so… any idea for the name yet?) and uploading it to YouTube and go to bed only to find a naked TB sleeping on my side of the bed because his was wet. After trying to enlist Vic to help, I get the best job (as always): take care of his bed while she supervises him getting dressed in new pajamas. All done I undress myself and go to bed… 3am (I am rubish changing duvet covers…)
  • 4am – For 200 different reasons at the same time although one of the being the biggest one… not gonna mention it now tho… I is shy… I am rolling from one side to the other and can’t sleep.
  • Circa 4:45am I fall asleep
  • Circa 6:30am I am awake again as Vic leaves the bed. by the time I fall asleep again it is
  • 7am – and I have to get the TB ready for school… Come Back from there with Alana’s grandma talking like a parrot all the way from school till home (apparently she’s going back to Brazil tomorrow and had to go out and buy new suitcases… and spent about 15 minute waking and going on on the same subject…
  • 10am – I get a phone call asking me why I didn’t go to the Artisan Networking meeting… Apparently I had missed the chance to meet someone that would probably mean a £5k contract… (grrrrrr)
  • Circa 10:30am – I get a call from Spain from a prospect client that wants to pay less for his website… After spending 20 minutes on the phone trying to explain to him that I can’t lower the price more than I already had to do prepare a CMS the Way he wanted and why he retreats saying that he’ll have to discuss it with his council again and would be getting back to me before the end of the week (yeah right…)
  • 11:02am – I post this morning’s post (which I wrote last night and saved as a draft instead of publishing) and run out of the door to take my DSA test. GPS and Google Maps tell me I would take 20 minutes to get there.
  • 11:43am – I am right at the corner of where I was supposed to take the test. Because the GPS didn;t recognise the address or post code of the building I stop woman and ask her for directions. she says “Ah… the DSA? You are on the wrong end of the road” (explains me the route I have to take around a one way system so full of curves that the GPS literally crashed taking me around the town-center of Kingston and back to where I was where I discover that if I had only made a U turn and turned right I will be inside the car park and in time for my test. NO SUCH LUCK!) It took me 15 minutes to go around the the the damn woman sent me and enter the car park to find a parking space (the car park is right beside the DSA building).

AND YOU ASK WHY MEN NEVER STOP FOR DIRECTIONS!!! Last time I ask a woman for it!That’s for sure! (sorry girls, me is VERY mad ATM)…

  • 12pm (Sharp) - After parking the car on the 12th floor of the car park I RUN to the DVA’s testing centre.
  • Circa 12:05pm – I am told I am late and therefor I can;t take the test today. Am given a number to call and try to cancel/re-schedule my test for another day.
  • 12:24Pm – I am back to the car imputing Mum’s address in kent into the GPS so I can go and check her post/bring a couple of boxes for storage… when I notice my rucksack (and with it her keys) was left at home on the hurry to leave the house to get to the DSA in time. So on my way back home…
  • 12:26pm - Vic Calls me VERY mad because I missed the test and spent money unwisely etc etc etc, tells me 200 reasons why I stink etc etc etc… and hangs up on my face (wait… who booked the test for the week before we’re traveling knowing that I would be trying double hard to make some money as I intend to REST during the trip to Scotland?) Ok that might be the PMT talking but “£$$^$%^£$%^”£!
  • 2pm – I get home and decide that there is NO WAY I’ll make it to Kent and back today in time to get the TB back from After School Club Thing. I call Pearson Vue to try to re-arrange the test and they say I am not in the system yet, and if I were I wouldn’t be able to book the test today… useless!!!

Just opened a letter from British Gas saying that the Direct Debit failed!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

What’s wrong with today??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

This has been the most deplorable day of the year… And I’ve had quite a bumpy ride so far! And it is not even a Monday so I can blame it on the day… (Can’t wait for 2008 to be over, really…)

Worse of all… it is only 2:46pm… I wanna go to bed and not getting up till today is GONE!

I know the plan was to Video log every Friday but the circumstances didn’t allow it, I am hard at work to finish Crossing Wires, my first serious web series which alas now has a Pilot Script (yay). But I’ve been trying to keep least twitter updated, so bare with me… I’ll try not to disappear for too long next time.

So… have I been up for the last week?

hummm nothing much really… it took me about 2 days to catch up and rest from the Survival of the fittest and then the rest of the week to get the script for the pilot ready (BTW… I hope you don’t mind but I am using some of you, my beloved readers and expectators as role models for some of the characters. And after you see the first episode you will be able to identify who’s some of them and stay tuned to urbanvox.net for more info on that! Ah… and if you have any interesting stories about your blogging life with a humpf in the LOL factor, LET ME KNOW and we might use it (working on some sort of prize for those who get chosen… ;) )

Oh.. Here goes a spoiler… the plot revolves around blogging friends and their blogs… hehehe… hope u like it!

I know not everyone has access to YouTube from the office for example… so… Responding to the comments from the past week.

On Sudden realization:

OHmommy – I would like to copyright that… but it is a variation of VERY old say in my country, “Quem ta na chuva eh pra se molhar”… We’re bound to get wet if we go out in the rain don’t we? Wish I had thought of that earlier! Enough Biting around the bush! ;)

VeryBadCat – You can boycott it as much as you want! us till gonna be left curious till the whole thing is out there! I left you a lil spoil today tho… as PART of the whole scheme… ;) Happy now?

On survival of the fittest

Vic – baby… yes we almost flew away!! It was REALLY that bad… Imagine me rolling around in that tent! sniff sniff!

And… You’re just jealous cuz they responded to me in the same day… hell in the same morning and it is taking THAT long for them to respond to you… yup… I am that Good! (Lol) Just kidding… I do think u write A LOT better than I do… so stop being jealous! :) Green is not your colour! Hehehe

Vered-MomGrind – I’ll have to agree with you 100%!! Did you know that the general public relies on blogs MORE than they rely in newspapers for news and articles? So yes, I am a blogwhore and proud of it! ;)

It is Tuesday… so I can tell you what to expect in urbanvox.net for this week:

Today (in an hour actually) I’ll be taking a driving test… yayyy… my theory test has expired and I’ll have to do it again… Sooo exciting… no not really… I hate those!!! Can’t they just give me a driving license based on the fact that I have a full 10 year experience one from Brazil? And believe me when I say that I drive a hell of a lot better than many brits I know! ;)

Between Wednesday and Friday I’ll be conducting Screen-tests for Crossing Wires. Interested in participating? Gi’me a shout…

The project is about to expand! LOOOADS of ideas! Hehehe

Friday we embark for our most excellent adventure to Scotland! And we (Vic+TB+Me) are preparing something soooo cool for ya! I’ll be talking about that some more as the week goes on and I suspect Vic’ll do the same.

Right… As always I am late…

Survival of the Fittest

I am back!! I know it is wednesday and not Monday like I promised… but I am back! :) hehehhe

Got LOADS of news but let’s start with the Survival of the Fittest‘s On-spot coverage exclusive for UrbanVox.net (ah… other thing for you to bookmark… hehehe my you tube channel) lol…

The Video was WAY too long after I’ve pasted all the clips together… heheheh not even You Tube accepted the thing as a whole… so I stayed up last night to divide the saga in 3 parts… and as this one is the first V-Log I’ll run commentary in written underneath each of the parts of the video. I am planning to limit the next post to 1Clip so don;t worry… I promise I won’t bore you with 25 minute videos anymore! lol! Next time I’ll edit them to bite size drops… and I also promise I won’t edit them at 2am not to let so many mistakes run crazy on it (and maybe this way You Tube will let me upload the whole thing at once… :) )! hehehehe… so… with no more delays… MH Survival of the Fittest (the comedy) Special edition in 3 parts!! ;)

Part One – Late Night, Early Morning

yep… we were late! But no surprise there really… My wrong… I should have told Polly we were leaving at 6pm and then MAYBE we would be leaving in time… at 8pm… But hey…

Apart from all the middle of the night incidents… IT was fine apart from the cold I now have… coughing like CRAZY! Drive was great… empty roads… cool! :)

Part Two – Complications

Of course there were more complications!! Do you believe in Murphy’s Law? That is the one that dictates that whenever the slice of bread falls it will always fall with the butter turning down to the floor.

It wasn’t enough that we left almost 2 hours late… or that when we were pitching the second tent we foind out that it would be absolutely impossible to do so… or that in the middle of the night the tent almost flew away…

I thought my luck was turning when we undid the tent, and got ready to leave for the Event Village in record time… when the car decided it was NOT going to work…

Problem solved… I finally get my assignment…

Part Three – The Saga’s End

Yup… I got “The best” assignments… first… Chill Out… Which left me kinda bored…

Second… I took the last Checkpoint… which was… boring… Watch the competitors going up and down the stairs… Nothing like the Rat Race ones… which were quite exciting… or even funny! Well to make justice to the event there were other checkpoints that seemed to be AWESOME! I just wasn’t lucky enough to be stationed in any of them… Never mind…

It gave me time to think… and come up with some ideas… ideas that you will soon have posted here… ;)

Sorry for being so secretive about it… it is just that creative rights need to be registered before I can tell all…. :) hehehehe… but soon VERY soon… ;)

On other related news!! I am now officially a professional blogger… or a blog whore!!! huahuahua

Vic applied the other day to something called BlogHerAds telling me how difficult it was for them to approve your blog to start receiving ad, and that they had openings once a year or something like that and how she couldn’t wait to receive a response from them etc, so I went to check it out and ended up registering urbanvox.net on it to see if I could get some ads round here… The fact is that I never thought I’d have a chance… specially knowing how well Vic writes etc…

What was my surprise when on the next day I get an e-mail from BlogHerAds accepting my registration and sending contracts etc etc so I could become one of “their bloggers”… I mean… wow!!!!

Now I’m gonna have to modify my template again to accommodate my blog whoring… hehehe

That’s the non’fun bit of it… but hey… what can you do? :)

Filming and Photographing TB and Vic baking a carrot cake… so will have to run!

PS… the audio on the last film got compromised when I had to convert the video format and I’ve only noticed it now… so here goes the Animoto Music Video thing with the problem fixed… :)

sudden realization

I haven’t really got much time to blog right now… but there is something I need to tell – I am actally bursting to tell – before I leave for the MH Survival in… well supposed to be 10 minutes… but knowing my cousin… I’ll sit and wait…

It is something VERY important! Wanna know it????

ok…

I have come to a sudden realization that might actually mean that I am not going to be stuck into whatever is making me stuck anymore… It is just the first step in the LONG, LONG, LONG journey… but it is a step nonetheless!

I am tired to giving a f*ck! (not in the literal aspect… in the figurative and pejorative one)

Seriously… I’ve spent most of my professional life worrying about what people thinks (no… literally… I am a Marketing Guy as a Corporate Image Consultant it is my job to know what people thinks and to MAKE them think the right way… or at least was until recently… when I got stuck in time.. OK… if you don’t yet know, about 6 years ago I used to work for a Big Time MKT company in Brazil till I had a nervous breakdown that landed me in hospital for a week and made me take the decision of quitting everything and coming to the UK – which I don’t regret a bit… that is where my journey really started where I tore myself to the ground and started rebuild block by block… what I am, what I believe, what I do, what I dream today… are all lil blocks).

I am most of all grateful to my wife who is the one that over the past 3 years has been the one providing in most things for the family while I left my field to start something new (photography at the time… you can look earlier on the blog to see what I mean, first half of 2005 if I am not mistaken… don’t really have the time now to go and find the posts of that time… sorry… :( ). The truth is if she hadn’t done that I would be stuck in my no-hours-work-life and would have never taken any steps to get out of it… And to think that it all started with a way to combat her Post Natal Depression… who says that nothing good can come from bad things???? I love you sooooo very much babe! and TB (ok… don’t neet to ge jealous)

Well retaking my train of thought… I am tired (and too old) to worry about my (late???) career… And most of all to worry about what others think I should do…

I am in the rain… now it is time to GET WET!

If I am out there to make the dream come trough… Then that’s what I am doing!

I am getting CWI to work the way it was devised to be! NOT AS A CHURCH!! It was NEVER suposed to be a church… FAR from it… it was supposed to be a tool to get people together and simply make things happen… NOT A CHURCH! Religion has nothing to do with it! Learning does… Discovering does… Touching people does… Transforming minds does… Transforming lifes does… UNITING people does… Religion doesn’t!!! (If you know me you will also know that I loathe Religiosity But I am not getting into merits of that now…)

I am going to take BO form the Idleness!!

I am going to Finish that book and take the plans out of the drawer!!!

I am going to PAINT THIS BIG OLD TOWN RED!!!!!!

And the frist nows will be announced when I return from the Men’s Health Survival… well on Monday!

Meanwhile I’ll be updating from the event whenever possible… so keep an eye on my twitterings and well… Whenever I have time I’ll use the WordPress App. On the IPhone (yeeesss I LOVE the IBeast, and you will hear about it for quite a while… hehehehe 2 years wait!! gotta juice it for all that is worth!! ;) )
