Millet’s Amazing Maize Maze
We had a blast of a time at Millets Farm Maize Maze and where we went along with some Fab bloggers (queue for plugging Hayley, Pippa ,Catherine , Paula , Gayle , Emma and Jon ) and their families for the Grand Opening of the ’Special Circus’ themed day on Saturday 24th July to celebrate the beginning of the school holidays!
This year the CLOWNIN’ ABOUT giant Maize Maze at Millets Farm Centre is designed in the shape of two clown faces complete with bald heads, round noses, bow ties and flower button holes covering an area of 10 acres of 6ft maize. Millets Maze was the first in the UK and with 4 Mazes in total together with quizzes to complete and codes to crack.
Me an Hayley Interviewed one of the girls that work for the farm about the maze and she told us that what we see in the map is exactly what you get in the maze as it was carved using GPS as a way of guidance… Very Clever…
you will be able to see the whole interview soon here and at Hayley’s place (we’re joining forces in that one and putting together the footage she recorded on her Flip and what I recorded on our Bloggie. We’ve been to practically the same places so it should be quite interesting to see what we can pull together…
)
As it is becoming a family tradition for all of our outings this summer the day started with us stuck into traffic and arriving to the Millet’s Farm too late for most of the morning activities but right in time to take a look at the smallest of the 4 mazes where TB had to find the 5 clowns with different colours to be able to crack the cover and find out what task he’s have to accomplish. His was hopping like a bunny rabbit which he more than happy to oblige. Before long it was lunch o’clock.
Lunch time was filled with laughter and jokes and The Wife managed to get Jon hooked in foursquare in a matter of minutes (and that is all we have heard from him since… he’s even been foursquaring his trips to the loo… nope, I am not joking) and it was also time for Hayley to work her magic with Little One and put him to sleep.
After Lunch we all went to Pick our Own Fruit (and eat loads of strawberries in the process).
As First things always come first we had to stop first at the carousel so the kiddos could have their fun and Emma could have her first ever run in one. and she rid on a horsey all on her own. Well done gurl!
After we managed to untangle Hayley from the assassin rucksack we resumed course in search for yummy strawberries and great farm food at the Farm Market.
The kids loved the day and I can say for sure that the adults in our group loved it too.
If we lived a little closer to Oxford we would sure be coming back for more adventures at the Millets Farm.
There is a lot more to say about saturday but I wouldn’t want to spoil the film… would I????
But so you don’t say I am a meanie or anything like that I’ll let you see the complete set of photos on the usual animoto video bellow.
