There Ain’t no club like the Penguin Club
A couple of months ago TB came back home after spending the day in a friends house talking about a website that had a penguin that had a rocket pack and would fly and have adventures with other penguins online.
He then went on to ask me to put the said website on so he could play on it… but he didn;t remember the name of it and I couldn’t find it anywhere.
What I did find was a Disney game for the Nintendo DS Called Club Penguin : Herbert’s Revenge which was all about a penguin Secret agent.
what I didn’t know was that the DS game only scratched the surface of what is the Club Penguin.
It wasn’t until last week that their PR people (hey there John form Kazoo) contacted me on twitter asking if I’d like to come and have some icecream at Fortnum & Mason (their icecream is just aaaweeeesome by the way) and meet up with Lane Merrifield, Executive Vice President, Disney Online Studios and one of three co-founders of Disney’s Club Penguin, one of the largest and fastest-growing virtual worlds for children.
The most amazing thing he told me is that the ideas for the creation of Club Penguin came from kids and as the world still expands they can still give more ideas to add up to the world. They see themselves not as creators but as facilitators with the task of bringing to life the ideas the kiddos have.
Cool uh!!!
We had the chance of interviewing him and those are the “clever” questions I managed to put together:
It was a fun afternoon, too bad TB couldn’t come with me to London for it, I bet he would have loved it.
What he did LOVE was his 1 month Premium Membership to play at Club Penguin.
