Cyber Bitching Through the Eyes of a Guy
Nuff said????
No???? Well we don’t get it… I mean we all love a bit of a squabble once in a while just as much as the next guy… But we simple don’t get it.
Well… I don’t get it…
For me blogging is all about the fun and the sharing and yeah… I like the attention it provides just as much as the next blogger. We ALL have this bit of a voyeuristic tendency to expose ourselves to the world out there… Or we wouldn’t be blogging in the first place.
I tend to always say what I think… Sometimes without filtering it first… And I tend to stand by what I said if I really believe into it.
I think I’ve been lucky so far… I’ve never been cyber bitched… at least as far as I know… Then again I tend to ignore squabbles and babbles. Grandma is a really wise woman. She tells me all the the time: “if one doesn’t want to, then two won’t fight”. I’ve dealt with bullies before in my life… I threw him down a set of stairs and he stopped bothering me… Now understand… it wasn’t a premeditated thing… he had been bullying me for ages and I kinda had enough.. one day he tried to kick me… I held his leg in mid air and punched his nose… it so happened that we were standing in front of a set of stairs… and he fell down… After I did that I went to help him up and into the School Nurse’s office.
That guy became part of my circle of friends later that same year.
What do I want to say with that? Well… it is so much simpler to solve a problem with a sincere chat instead of throwing someone down the stairs.
I don’t mean publicly attacking each other in forums or twitter or blog posts… As we can see that only makes matters worse… solve it in private… if you don;t want or can’t meet up face to face even an msn chat would solve it.
If it doesn’t work… well then agree to disagree and let everyone go his/her own way… block each other… stop reading each other posts… STOP POSTING ABOUT EACH OTHER…
Live and let live… without the drama… Life is short enough and full of dramas enough in itself for us to create more online dramas.
I had to get myself into one of these squabble babbles this morning because it was getting on my nerves already… It was so simple to end the argument by just doing that: live and let live… the web is big enough for every one.
And we are not in secondary school anymore. Playground rules do not apply.
There… I took it aout of the chest… It feels good! Wanna do the same?

The differences between boys and girls as explained to me by my dad “boys punch each other in the nose right off, make up and are best friends afterwards. Girls find each others weakness and then pick at them until someone loses their mind”

Uuuuuh…. Girls are evil!!!
LOL!!!
It’s a difficult one yuri because cyber bitching is different to the sort of Argie bargie you come across on gaming forums. Blokes tend to have a go at each other while lasses seem to look for sympathy with others & try to turn all their friends against you. The last time it happened to me there strangers I’ve never met character assassinating me from private twitter accounts.
There is a problem when this happens as it’s easy for a whispering campaign to change the way people perceive you. It reminds me of when I joined a circle of friends as a student. I started dating one of them, realised she was mental (after a stomach pumping near death experience) so I dumped her. She then told the whole group she’d dumped me because I was weird. None of them asked me for my opinion on the subject & it took years of me not being weird and a few episodes of her mentalness for them to realise she had been lying.
So while I’ll generally ignore lying and spite campaigns, when the protagonist is just targeting me, when they start bringing in a posse of strangers I need to protect myself because it’s happened to me in real life before.

I know what you mean… I’ve been at the wrong end of one of these campaigns too… it is definitely NOT a good place to be.
We live in different worlds we do (men and women…
And I understand the need to defend oneself… but engaging only makes things worse methinks…
That IS a complicated one… Hope I could have a solution… but just there isn’t one…
I absolutely love your Grandma’s quote ‘“if one doesn’t want to, then two won’t fight”…..perfect!
