So we’re back to the face of the earth and to the world of technology, communications and social networks…
Well… to be fair we never completely left it… hehehe… After all Hales was twitting within a couple of hours of us leaving her place on route to our secret hide away on the mountains… And We used SatNav to get there and about… and we used digital cameras… and the iMac to watch movies and the iPhone to check emails…
So yeah… maybe we couldn’t handle a technology free weekend, but we kept social network interaction at a minimum…
The trip over there wasn’t bad and we managed to get from Surrey to the Peak District in a little over 3 hours leaving a little late because I got delayed by traffic on the A3 thus infuriating a bit my gorgeous girlfriend. Nothing that a few jokes wouldn’t solve tho so all was good.
I managed to get us to the wrong road within seconds of leaving the M25… To be saved again by technology and Saint Google Maps smartly read and navigated by a certain cute purple hair young mummy.
We’ve finally arrived to our secret (ish) hideaway avoiding getting snowed at throughout the
way at nearly 12am where after a few failed attempts, and 1 call to Brazil we managed to get the boiler to work and warm up the -4C temperature that greeted us INSIDE the stone cottage… No snow but plenty of cold… even under the duvets so we literally slept in what we were wearing underneath, two duvets and hales wrapped in three blankets and each other.
Morning brought a new surprise in the form of about 3 inches of snow that we discovered right after the GF had texted her mum saying that we had no snow up there… hehehe… We spent a few minutes taking pictures of the cold thick white carpet out there.
Seeking breakfast we once more relied on technology in the form of Google to find the nearest Tesco 11miles away which took us about 1 hour and a bit to drive through snowed up country lanes up and down hills on mum’s poor Peugeot 307 (yeah… we should have probably taken the Monsta Truck… but opted for economic driving up there) only to find out about the brand new Sainsburys just around the corner on the way back… Oh well…
We got back to our snowed out refuge and went straight to bed to do something VERY exciting… Sleep! ah the joys of parenthood… you take what you get… lol… And we were both probably needing it… To be honest, the weekend wasn’t everything we had planned (we’d planned a
13km hike for saturday but Hales forgot her boots and we decided not to go for such venture because of the snow) but all the rest we had was well worth it.
Evening brought a romantic dinner prepared by yours truly with all my love. Just the 2 of us… and cameras… yeah… we’re hopeless like that…
… then cuddling up in bed to watch soppy romantic comedies… And what comes next it is none of your business!
We were due to leave to London early morning to be back for lunch but we only woke up at 10:30am… By the time we got up and dressed and took a few photos of Hales for my portfolio
using the awesome necklaces from @LittleFairyCult that she has kindly donated as prizes for the @Livvyssmile prize draw in a few days (will be posting photos some time this week), it was about 12pm.
Now there comes the bit that wasn’t fun at all… The journey home… Not just because the weekend was over and we’d be getting back to real life but because we had to sit through 7 and a half hours of traffic down the M1 / M25…
And now we’re back to real life… Still… batteries recharged and ready for whatever comes ahead…
Great times were had… can’t wait for the next one!!
So… to the response as to if we can live without technology… erm… what do you think??? :)
Enjoy the photos in the cool little montage on top…
Basically you have just shown mr that I could not manage a whole weekend without my iPhone or any other technology. My next holiday will be booked based on ‘WiFi’ availability. Pleased you enjoyed your time away though and a pleasure to donate my jewellery to such a good cause x
We did enjoy it…
was great to recharge the batteries and all that…
Lol, of course you can’t… you’ve proved you can enjoy life without social media connectivity though, which is a good first step
DiscoMcDisco´s last [type] ..So sod this for a work blog…
