Yesterday I got to see Livi TeePot again after loads of careful planning well no… not really… but after I failed to go to France to see her over new year I felt I DEFINITELY had to go see her not that she was close… well… less far… and hiding in the middle of nowhere… And I REALLY mean hiding… I actually did get lost GPS and all… lol

But anyway… I finally got my arse there and we had an awesome afternoon catching up… OK… catching up is not really the right word here… We kinda catch up every day online anyway… lol

So we went to Winchester… to do The Winchester Walk… Upside down because I didn’t notice the numbers in the map… oops… But hey… We saw Pubs (the oldest in the Land!!!)… And Love… And birds… And felt a bit Old Fashioned… and I saw lines ad curves and architectural stiles and explained the meaning of this and that whilst all she saw was “How big it is” *sniggers*… I laughed of her obsession with bikes and then joined in taking pictures of them… Don’t think we ACTUALLY visited any of the points described on the map but that is beside the pont!

But we did it… our own way…And it was fun and we took loads of pretty pictures!

Although… I actually pity the fool that decides to date Livi… I met her parents and got the full drill questionnaire reserved to prospect suitors for a young lady, and even had a chaperone for the end of the evening in the form of her dad… Don’t think they were convinced that I am just a friend… lol… But hey…I had a good time and company over dinner was awesome too!

And that was Winchester To a Tee… Miss ya already Liv! ;-)

Carpe Diem

I messed last week’s 366 Project linky at The Boy and Me so am making a run for it today and adding a whole lot of photos in there… ;-) hehehe

Yeah… Life is being hectic again… But I am now in possession of my iMonster again so blogging on the go and other little things are back in the table (hooray!!!!)

Anyway… I hope you enjoy this week’s photos… Early night is in order for me! (or at least trying!!!!)

Make sure you click on the photos to browse to the category if you wanna read more info about them…

Carpe Diem

Yes… I can talk about it! I am a self confessed night owl… Dunno what it is… But my brain simply switches on at night and that’s it… nothing will make it shut down until every neurone is consumed… Unless of course I appeal to drugs (good ones… not bad ones! in any case… a little advise here… Kiddos: don’t do drugs!!) or a mallet to the head…

Big monkey can be just the same if I don’t actually make him go to bed… Even when we introduced routines and the like…

Now… We never really have had any problems wit the Little… He has pretty much created his own routine and stuck to it since like… well… ever… That… Like “Wear Sunscreen” is an advice I’d like to dispence.

It starts with One Word: Bath.

The moment this word is used (after dinner time…  no earlier than that) he will get into power down mode and make his way to what I am sure is one of his favourite parts of the day… I man look at this smile as I give him some new Bucket (we don’t have a bath… so he has this big red bucket thing that he has his baths on) entertainment: Some brand new Flexibath Bath Toys that had just arrived on the post on that morning.

Whilst the bucket was filling he got acquainted with the toys that are free from PVC, Phthalates, BPA, heavy metals and other harmful and hazardous materials (and can be banged on the dishwasher to clean up! SCORE!)

I did have to have imaginary tea a few times while the bath filled up… But all part for the bed time fun! Bath is full so in we get…

Proof that Bath time might ACTUALLY be is favourite part of the day???

“Come one monkey… time to get out of the Bath…”

“NO!!!!” before I even manage to finish speaking… Doesn’t even sound like the little baby that would scream his head off when he used to hear the sound of the bath being filled up when he was littlest…

After having to grab him off the bath and tickle him into his PJs comes story time.

Yup… Little Monkey is a bit of a book worm… guess he takes after his mum on that one… But still I love it when he makes up loads of little stories pointing at the images in the book. We love caras and cats and dogs and ducks. They always make their way into the stories somehow. :-)

Next step is getting up and going around the house saying good night hugs and kisses to everyone before heading back to me for a final cuddle and tuck into bed.

I turn off the lights and leave the room… 5 minutes later I can usually hear his little snores and other sleepy noises…

I still don’t know how Littlest behaves at night… he has no problems falling asleep during the day when he is with me… so I am guessing is another one of those things he takes after Little Monkey… Can’t wait to be able to take my theory to the test when I finally can have him sleeping over at weekends.

I guess what I want to say is… best way to get to the Land of Nod is routine! It works on the kiddos right?!?! Why can’t it work on me too??? Oh… look… 2:30am and I am still awake… *sighs*

Do YOU have a night/sleep time routine before heading to bed????

I’ve been dragged into another Vlog challenge again… This time by @chaoskay … And As I am never shy for a little spot of fun… here we go! Theeeeee wonderful thing about Tiggers…

Think you’ve got what it takes to Challenge ME?!?!?!?

Iiiiiiiii’m the only one! grrrrr ;-)

Give me your best shot! I am shameless… heheheheh

I think I’ve said tat once, but I guess this is the only good thing about being single on Valentines Day is that you don’t really need to worry about going out and getting gifts for your significant other… Mainly because you don’t have one…

Okay… this is sad really… The awesome people at Swizzels Matlow, the makers of Love Hearts, sent some of their  new Valentine’s Day collection including a limited edition heart-shaped retro tin full of Mini Love Hearts and an ‘I Love You’ tube of sweets and I have NO ONE to share it with…

Those retro treats offer a range of quirky gifts as an alternative to chocolate that should please all the ladies (and save the necks of all yer silly lads buying chocolate boxes to tempt them to get out of their diets… so positive points to you!!!).
What better way to say I love you then saying it the sweet way. ;-)
Yeah… Tacky… I know… but the whole Valentines Day thing is SUPPOSED to be tacky isn’t it?It’s tradition and all that… and who am I to break with traditions???

So… In the best interest of keeping them, and making someone happy, this Valentins day I shall be giving my heart away to one of my lucky readers!!!

Nooooooo silly… not THAT one… THAS ONE

So… who wants some sweeties???? All you gotta do to win is leave me a comment or twit  me (@urbanvox) with the hashtag #lovehearts telling me THE TACKIEST thing you could ever say/hear on valentines day! And don’t tell e you’d never do it… we all do it at least once in our lives… Love makes no sense after all… and we are all fools for loving… and we love it! :)

Go on then… you have until Monday the 13th at 11:59pm to leave me your comment/@ me your tweet… and one of you that do it will get my tin heart for valentines! How does that sound??? Good???  AWESOME!

WHO WANTS SOME LOVELY SWEETIES?!!?!? :-)

PS: if you don’t win, don’t worry… you can always get your own tin at www.lovehearts.com ;-)

I was chatting to someone on Skype last night and we fell on a subject that I don’t really speak much… mainly because it is so hard to explain if you’ve never been through is: Living with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) .

I got to hear something rare as well… The account from someone that lived with someone with ADHD (her ex husband suffered with it)… And as we spoke and she told me how impossible it was I kinda started to realize how bad I am.

Last night I couldn’t sleep so I started dealing with invoices and forms that I needed to fill up and send back (my bed was covered with them), and was scanning documents to send to a PR agency, and was having 3 unrelated conversations on skype, twitter and MSN as well as having a half written media pack open on corel and 6 tabs on the other monitor as twitter rolled on my main account in the other monitor and music played in my laptop where I had a half written blog post I never seem to be able to finish…

She told me her ex husband described it once as being like a TV with the remote control constantly set on browse… at the end of the day he would get home and collapse with tiredness… Well that and ADHD is often accompanied by other disorders like Depression and BPD.

Sometimes for me is like having a crowd talking in my head, all of them speaking at the same time about different things… It can be exhausting… Incredibly frustrating… But I think he has it worse than I do… I was 18 when I was diagnosed. I can’t say I have it totally nailed just yet… but I’ve learned to live with it, and to a certain point to control it… most of the time.

It’s not all bad tho, people that suffers from ADHD usually have very elevated IQ/Multiple Intelligence Coefficients… And if you learn how to channel all the ‘voices in our head’ and teach them to talk to each other instead of over each other and about different subjects you can be incredibly good at what you do…

Mozart, Richard Bransom, Malcolm Forbes, Henry Ford, Bill Gates, Christopher Columbus, Robin Williams, Alexander Graham Bell, Thomas Edison, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein… What did they all have in common? You have one guess..

Creativity and innovation are hallmarks of people with ADHD. For example, if Edison didn’t have ADHD, we might be reading by brighter candle light. So there definitely is a silver lining here…

I know it’s not easy… but there are a few things you can do if you find that you, or your kid, partner or a friend has ADHD:

First of them TALK to someone… try and explain how you feel… what you feel… If you think you might suffer from it talk to your GP and try to get tested for it. If you do, having an ADHD Coach is a good start (Bear in mind that some traditional methods of coaching might not work as true ADHD is usually neurological)

Second, STOP denigrating yourself, and start celebrating yourself. ADHD is inherited and you don’t have a choice over your genetics. “will power” alone has little chance against genetics so you might as well be happy about that. Creativity, “out-of-the-box” thinking, and intuition are also a genetic traits frequently linked to ADHD. Learn more about your unique positive traits, and learn to focus on harnessing and leveraging your unique creativity and positive points.

Third, Educate yourself, There are many good ADHD books, websites and support groups out there. For example, “Driven to Distraction,” “The Davinci Nation Method” and “You Mean I’m Not Lazy, Stupid or Crazy?” are a few awesome books you can read. Also, CHADD.org has a list of support groups, self-help tips and resources.

Help yourself or your kid/partner/friend with ADHD accept that they have a need for stimulation. This need fuels their creativity and allows them to be highly effective in high-risk/stress situations. Select activities where the ADHD trait can have a positive impact on your agenda.

Also… A nutritionist specializing in ADHD can also help you eliminate other foods you may be sensitive to from your diets, and recommend specific nutrient supplements… Bear that in mind… you are what you eat. :-)

And at least but not last… HAVE FUN!!!!! Travel, workout, find a hobby that will harness your attention… this is how I got started in photography… Remember that because you have a mental health problem it doesn’t mean that your life is over… there are many more pros than cons and there is NOTHING stopping you from living life in full!

Meditation, Running, Swimming, focus exercises… it all helps too… when you actually do it… you see… I stopped running in 2003… went from doing it every morning to full stop within weeks… I haven’t been swimming for a while… Focus exercises and meditation… well… I haven’t had time for it lately… so… when I find myself awake at 4AM staring at 2 computer screens, with a laptop on my lap and paperwork scattered over my bed I think I know something needs to be done… right?!

Oh gosh… look at the size of this post!!!! lol

I hope it helps… It definitely helped ME to realize I have a lot to do… :-)

Carpe Diem!

;-)

Hasta la Vista!!!

I have succumbed to the pressure of busy times and busy days and all that… I simply don’t have the time I thought I had to look for a shoot, edit and post every day… so a little compromise has to be made… and I will now be posting my 366 Project photos once a week, every Sunday.

This weeks photos are particularly awesome… :)

I need to start of course with Luschka’s (from Diary of a First Child) Pregnancy shoot!

It was great to seeing them all again – and long overdue – and K’s smile as she said “Hi Uncle Yuri!” and gave me a hug was just priceless! I can’t wait for Squiggly to be around and we’re planning for me to do a New Born Shoot as well so watch this space. ;-)

It was LOADS of fun for everyone and the result was just spectacular (and I am forgetting all modesty here… hehehe). I’ll dedicate a whole blog post to the shoot later, but I just think t least a couple of the photos should be included this week ;-)

Next in the list of awesome was Big Monkey’s Spontaneous Combustion snap.

Don’t be alarmed… I did not cover him in petrol and light a match on him… hehehehe…

Little Monkey found a glow stick and brought it to the bath with him… Big saw it and when it was his turn for bath time he brought another 2 with him and asked me to turn the lights off… now THAT gave me an idea… I lowered my shutter speed and clicked away… the result is what you see… AWESOME OR WHAT??? ;-)

And then… FROM fire to ICE…

Well… Snow… And Snow Troopers (LEGO!!!)…  And Birds… And fruits… and Slush…

And under special Request even a Tauntaun!!!!!

So… That’s it for this week’s 366 Project photos… I hope you enjoyed them… Stay tuned for more next week… and Carpe Diem… Every Diem!!!! ;-)

Hehehehe… i am suuuuuch a big child! ;-)

PS: Thanks for the Challenge @_katie_Bailey ! Mischief Managed! ;-)

We’ve all been there – 4pm on the 13th Feb, a hot date lined up for the Valentine night and PANIC! Nothing to wear and no gift bought for your loved one… Well… I have been there… What’s with leaving things for the last minute, right?!?!?Actually… I think this is the only positive thing about being single in February… not having to worry about Valentine’s Day…Of course, no one is as “lucky” *cries a bit* as I am… So here I am with a little cheat for all of you useless cupids like me: This year, Next comes to the rescue by playing Cupid’s assistant with their Valentine’s Gift and Outfit Selector.

And the good news for the less organised amongst us… you can order before 9pm for Next Day Delivery service. If you still need more choice, you can see a further selection of dresses and shoes to make the perfect Valentine’s outfit on Next.co.uk

They do all the hard work so you can play it cool and get the cookie points for being a Good Valentine… Next did their part… now you go on and do yours… ;-)

Have fun! But don’t do anything I wouldn’t, kiddo (I know that’s not a lot… but hey)! ;-)
