We’ve all been there – 4pm on the 13th Feb, a hot date lined up for the Valentine night and PANIC! Nothing to wear and no gift bought for your loved one… Well… I have been there… What’s with leaving things for the last minute, right?!?!?Actually… I think this is the only positive thing about being single in February… not having to worry about Valentine’s Day…Of course, no one is as “lucky” *cries a bit* as I am… So here I am with a little cheat for all of you useless cupids like me: This year, Next comes to the rescue by playing Cupid’s assistant with their Valentine’s Gift and Outfit Selector.

And the good news for the less organised amongst us… you can order before 9pm for Next Day Delivery service. If you still need more choice, you can see a further selection of dresses and shoes to make the perfect Valentine’s outfit on Next.co.uk

They do all the hard work so you can play it cool and get the cookie points for being a Good Valentine… Next did their part… now you go on and do yours… ;-)

Have fun! But don’t do anything I wouldn’t, kiddo (I know that’s not a lot… but hey)! ;-)

I know you will say that I am exaggerating on that one, but this is exactly how I feel right now… In the Dark Ages…

Over the past few days we’ve been experiencing quite a few issues with our electrical supply. Power Cuts, Surges, lighs blinking a lot and as of today more time without electricity than with any at all…

No TV, no computers (how am I supposed to work without my computers on?!?! can you tell me that? Well… there is the MACBook, but then what do I do when the battery is over… and even then… what’s the point of having the laptop when there is no internet because there is no electricity?

Which then brings me to more serious issues… also… no heating!!!!!! No hot water for showers… today I mostly smell like a baby wipes… no… don’t ask… you know the answer anyway…

Power supply spent the whole day teasing me today… it came on for 5 minutes… the 20…. then back to 2 minutes and sometimes just a few seconds… How is one supposed to live like that???

And that is not the worse part!!! MY iPhone IS DEAD!!!!!!!!!! Somehow I’ve managed to short circuit it plugging it to charge after using outside when it was marginally damp….

I feel totally cut off from the world… I know this kinda sounds ridiculous… after all one can always go out and speak to real people instead… right?!?! riiiight????!!!! I mean… people did that for like forever before the invention of social networks and other things… Is not imposible… right?!! right?!?!?!!?

*mentally opens the door and sees the empty street… EMPTY*

HOW ON EARTH DID PEOPLE USE TO LIVE LIKE THIS??????

Staying at home was driving me insane… so I picked up my laptop and made my way to Bluewater and am now sitting here in the middle of a million people and… talking to other people over the internet… hehe… hehe…

I wonder what would happen to all of us constantly plugged into this or that social networks, yes… plural… most people I know is in more than one… twitter, facebook, orkut, myspace, path, instagram… what would they do if they sudenly couldn’t share thoughts, news, photos, videos etc almost instantly…. what would it happen if you had to go back to waiting days… maybe months to receive news? What would happen to the world if we were to truly go back to the dark ages in the blink of an eye?

Wow… all of a sudden this post has totally been blown out of proportion now… lol… but it raises a valid point… One that I’d love to hear your point on… what would you do today if in a blink of an eye the lights came off and never came back on????

How dependent on technology are you???

Hi, My name is Yuri and I am a Designer/Photographer/FilmMaker and I used to be a PC… No argument anyone could give me could ever convince me to switch from Windows to Mac… One day after spending 3 hours importing video from my camera to the computer to be able to edit just to realise that the file was too big to be edited on it without crashing every 15min…

This is when I joined the dark side… And man… They say that no one that tries a MAC ever goes back…That  it becomes an addiction and you can’t really imagine your life without it ever again… Well… it is true…  Incredibly annoying… but it’s true…

I have seen the error of my ways and gave myself to the dark side of geek… and there is one person to be blame it on… The guy that made GEEK become COOL: Steve Jobs. (Or should I say turn NERD into GEEK???)

He was a Genius… Not because he introduced a new concept in the market (because let’s face it… he didn’t invent Laptops, Tabless or MP3 players or Smart Phones…) but he sure made them into something that looks cool, and something that WORKS great…

Soon all the cool kids had their iPhones and other things… An well… THAT is where you see how much of a genius Jobs was?!?!?!

There isn’t a lot more that could be said about him that hasn’t already been told… So…

I am proud to say:  I AM A MAC

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

“The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come… For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it’s been an insanely great honour”

Bill Gates

So… the cuteness that is Emma ( @Spoonfulofvodka ) has tagged me in this Meme and well…

I don’t do Memes much but for one reason or another… I just can’t say no to her can I? ;)

So… sadies and gentlemen….

On the 2nd of February 2005 (6 years ago) I signed my forst ever Blog post as UrbanVox…

Back then blogging was a way for me to get everything out of my chest to avoid exploding… I didn’t worry about who was reading it or how many people did it… I didn’t worry about what I said or how… Didn’t care a bit if I was offending someone whit what ver I was unloading from my chest… Oh… I miss those days…

But then again… I’ve grown up quite a lot since then… And with me so has this blog achieved some level of maturity… What?? I’m a bloke… you don’t really expect me to be fully mature ever do you???

But you will find in the pages of this blog some of the most crucial moments of the past 6 years in my life… You will find almost the whole of my first son’s life, since he was 9 months old and you will find the whole of the life so far of my littlest one and yeah… the ones to come… You will find ups and downs… ends and new beginnings…

I haven’t really changed much really… I am still a dreamer… although I dream with my feet firm on the ground now… or at least closer to the ground…

My life hasn’t changed much either… I am starting over once again… This time I’m older and wiser tho… I try not to dwell on the past as much as I can… I truly believe that everything I want through had a purpose and would add up to things I live today and will live in the future… And hopefully not repeat the same mistakes of the past… Would I change any of it???

NOPE!!!

Oh… I’ll have some stories to tell my grandchildren… Or they can simply read them if they want it…

In 6 years blogging evolved a lot… and I’ve been trying to keep up with it… Vlogging Twitting, Social Networking… Words have been invented to describe the new tendencies in Social Media… Blogging isn’t what it used to be…

Last year we gave a huge step on shaping the blogosphere… and it was a great year for me too… I became a Daddy Blogger… one of the Top 10 in the country according to Cision… I’ve been nominated AND became a finalist as Most Innovative MADBlogger and came back with an award I didn’t even know there was a nomination for (Blogging Rockstar)…

This year further steps will be taken… I’m not prepared to tell exactly what those steps are, but keep an eye on @actionstations, @mad_bloggers and @urbanvox and you will get to know what those steps will be… And I promise it will be sooner than you imagine…

This year is all about giving back on all the good I’ve received… And maybe a bit more even…

I am SO VERY EXCITED about what’s to come I better stop talking before I let it slip… :)

So… Thanks for your readership… and I hope you keep coming back… There’s loads coming up at UrbanVox.net

And don’t forget to leave me comments… I luuuuurve Comments… :)

6 years… Wow… I feel like grampa blogger! hehehe

Zya!
