A few days ago me, TB, Lil One and Hayley were invited with a few other fabulous bloggers to go to Mind Candy HQ for a Q&A with Mr. Moshi (AKA Mike Acton), the creator of Moshi Monsters. It was literally bucket loads of fun.
Last saturday me and Hayley finally sat down to do the head of the first video of the series to be released on MADBloggersTV… The Video above is the result of my first try on editing it… bare in mind that the head was supposed to be max 4 minutes long…
It is being posted up here for your enjoyment.
Those are the contents of my pockets at any given day.
I absolutely HATE to carry things on my hands and unless I’m out to take pictures, to meet a client or to one of our family adventures (in which case you can be sure I’ll be taking some sort of camera with me anyway) I avoid at all costs to carry bags, rucksacks, etc etc etc…
Let’s just say I like to travel light, so last month when I was on a contract to diagram a whole magazine working half from home and half from their offices I was daunting having to carry one of my external hard drives (which is attached to the big monster machine in the most difficult way there is to unplug it) as well as the laptop (yeah… they didn’t set up a work station for me there… saving money by not buying an extra licence for inDesign… go figure).
The solution believe it or not came in the form of a pen drive.
Yeah I know… now you are gonna ask me what’s so great about this pen drive… Well… YuuWaa is not just a mere pen drive, it combines 4GB flash drive bundled with up to 20 GB online storage space which you can access from any computer connected to the internet and if you are like me and you keep forgetting things on top of the table I have some great news for you: YuuWaa automatically backups the physic memory into the online storage so all you need to do to get the files you’ve stored into your pen drive is log into your YuuWaa account from any browser you like and retrieve it.
The interface you use to access files (both online and inside the pen drive) is very easy to use and it comes with some other funky features, like for example, if you want to share a folder or a file with someone else without sharing your password for the service, you can simply create and send them a ling to the files you want them to access and all pretty straight forward through the YuuWaa interface.
I have to admit that I was a bit sceptic with it all when I saw my wife using it and thought “fair enough… it is like having an FTP account on a pen drive… I wouldn’t buy one” but then I got to try it myself and well… I was wrong!
It simplifies things quite a lot with all the automatic update features and if you lose the pen drive you won’t lose the files you had in it which believe me, it can be quite handy.
The retail price for the YuuWaa starts at £19.99 (at Amazon) for the 4GB YuuWaa GO version and with it you get:
- The first flash drive to include online storage, backup and sharing services
- Combination of 4GB flash drive bundled with up to 20 GB online storage space
- Access files anytime, anywhere on our secure server via any Internet connection
- With the purchase of this product, get online services for FREE for 6 months (but maintaining your account after the free 6 months starts at £1.80 for a month’s storage with YuuWaa Go and £4.51 for a month’s storage with YuuWaa Plus and the more time you purchase in one go, the cheaper it gets. Ah… and YuuWaa are giving away an amazing 2400GB of storage.* Simply visit www.youwinyuuwaa.com before 30 June 2010 to try your luck and play the game.)
- Storage: YuuWaa Plus combines a flash drive with expandable online storage space

I am talking about The MADs award for Most Innovative MAD blog!
I have no idea how that happened… well I do know and all I can say is THANK YOU ALL for the vote that put the UrbanVox HQ there! There’sactually a chance that I might win that thing… but I will need your help once more… And it will only take 2 minutes of your time to head up here and vote for UrbanVox once again for the Most Innovative MAD blog (BTW…w hile you’re at it, you can vote for Glowstars as best looking blog too… I made it!!!
)
The other blogs going for the prize are awesome… Cafebebe, Notes From Lapland, Little Mummy and My Daddy Cooks are all in my reader (and I follow them on twitter)… and I am happy to even being a finalist but as Heather (from notes from lapland) said: “Hell…. I want those prizes!!!”… Ok she didn’t use these exact words… but you know what I mean…
So… time to go and vote… and tell the family… people you seeon the streets… everyone to go go and vote URBANVOX for the Most inovative Blog… Please pretty please….
And if it is a bribe that you need… well… If I win, then I will match @glowstars give away and one lucky reader will win a professionally designed blog template complete with 1 year free web-hosting + domain!
How’s that for an incentive?!?!?!?!
All you need to do is go and vote urbanvox for Most Innovative MAD Blog!
Zya later Crocodiles!
Yup… as you too might already know I too was nominated for The MADs and as it is my obligation… no… MY DUTY… I am here to shamelessly BEG you to come and vote for me!!!
I was going to write a cool post talking about why you should come and vote for me… but The Wife did such a great job that I will shamelessly just plagiarize what she wrote on her own blog (I know u gonna read that baby… but it is in the best of interests that I do that and you know it!!…
).
There it goes!!!
Yes, you know what’s coming. And for those who don’t, nominations are flooding in for the MADs, a brand new set of awards celebrating British mummy and daddy bloggers. By now most people have probably put in their nominations and if you haven’t, well then let me sway you with a little bribery.
If I get shortlisted for any award (the five blogs with the highest nominations in each category go through to the next round) I will do a giveaway on this blog. Not just any old tat, but something rather nice. Perhaps you’d like to choose the prize yourselves. But of course first, I need to get shortlisted. And just to make it a bit more fun, if I then get voted the winner, I’ll make that giveaway prize grow in numbers. The more nominations I get (and hopefully the more wins) the more prizes there’ll be to go around.
You can nominate blogs for a MAD award here.
Of course, having been around for as long as I have, I’m not eligible for the best new blog category. Worse still, in another category I’m up against the wife. This could be a very interesting process. To help you out with your nominations take a look at the table below which suggests which of the wife and I you should nominate in each category.
| Category | Blogger to Nominate |
| MAD Blogger of the Year | Glowstars.net |
| Most Innovative MAD Blog | Urbanvox.net |
| Best MAD Family Fun Blog | Glowstars.net or Urbanvox.net |
| Funniest MAD Blog | Urbanvox.net |
| Best-Looking MAD Blog | Glowstars.net* or Urbanvox.net |
| Best MAD Baby Blogger | Glowstars.net |
| Most Inspirational MAD Blog | Glowstars.net |
| Best MAD Blog Photography | Urbanvox.net |
| Best MAD Blog Writer | Glowstars.net |
*If you nominate glowstars.net for Best-Looking MAD Blog it’s not just the wife you’re nominating but the ME, as I was the one who came up with this rather funky new layout.
So remember, nominations mean shortlists and shortlists mean prizes. Plus one (two) happy blogger (s).
Thank you.
