Some times life likes to throw you little surprises and some times if you don’t grab them you might regret. I am happy we grabbed the latest one.
Last tuesday I was in the middle of recording one of the last Scenes of ”We get used” (official name TBC) when the phone rang (right in the middle of recording poor Kathia doing her lines… exactly when she was getting “into” it to be precise) and it was Vic giving the news that she had won tickets to go to the Playhouse Theatre to watch La Cage Aux Folles that same night and that I was suposed to find a baby sitter ASAP (sod the fact that I was up to my neck with things to do… but hey…
)
Have you ever watched the movie The Birdcage?

The Birdcage (2006) I didn't find it particularly funny, but then again, I didn't find american comedies very funny at the time eather...
Well, La Cage Aux Folles is the musical that inspired the movie which I didn’t care much about. Seen it once and it didn’t find it very funny… and I really like Robbin Williams’ work.
Yup… I thought it was going to be lame lame lame… and to my complete surprise it was great!
Seeing a bunch of guys showing off and wriggling their arses to the air is NOT my idea of fun, a but Le Cage Aux Folles surprised me big time!!

The one thing that did not leave my mind during the can can was the splits... I actually thought of the pain...
If I discount the woman sitting right behind me that seemed to be coughing her lungs out (without bothering to cover her mouth or anything like that… seriouslly… she spent half the time doing it, and the other half trying to convince her girlsfriends of how much she understood of Theatre and drama etc etc etc… I almost snapped and shouted “just shut up already!”) I can actually say I liked it!!

Jacob the buttler (AKA Jacobina) was hilarious!! hehehe
I even tilted my neck when Zaza came with the “seeing things on an angle joke! 0_o
Yup… I tilted my head… And laughed at the turning nipples (internal joke)
Sure if Grahan Norton were Zaza as Vic had advertised when she called demanding that I find a babysitter it would probably be even more hilarious… but in any case it was a FUN night out (check the video bellow for Grahan Norton’s interview on La Cage Aux Folles)
Yes… Of course I was going to find something to complain about… I am a grumpy old men and “I am what I am!” (I’m on a roll… LOL!)
I need to officially thanks my mother in law for being TB’s sitter for the evening so we could go. It was well worth not letting Vic giving up the tickets… hehehehe
Whilst I don’t think I would ever BUY tickets myself to go and see it, if you have the chance, go and watch it! deffinitely worth for the laugh.
Zya!
